Our dear, beloved postal service has been on strike (who’d have guessed) for the last couple of months (or years, considering how efficient they are). As such, no-one in the area has any idea what mail they might be missing.
Now, on an average day, I can’t say I’m all that unhappy. Most mail is either utterly boring or terrifying. However, every now and then, there’s something exciting. I remain clueless as to anything good that may have been sent but for one exception.
Imagination Is Spicy had a competition on their site so, of course, I had to enter. And I WON! I didn’t get the answer right but, then again, nor did anybody else, so we ended up in a hat. Long Life was drawn! Oh, the excitement of it all. Now that, in itself, is something of a miracle but the fact that the prize actually arrived, is the greatest miracle of my time!
Our prize came beautifully wrapped and presented:
It could hardly be more appropriate, as it included a MOR Tin-Boxed Soapette and Handcream with Lychee (or Litchi as we would spell it here) flower fragrance. Together with a beautifully hand stitched heart (or favourite) brooch.
Litchi (the dog, not the fruit) is delighted! She believes it was created especially for her. She will not be getting to use it!
I love that the tin is collectable and has a cute little hinged lid. Just precious.
And, as with all things that I love, it even gave me a giggle. The soap tin comes with instructions. Maybe they’re concerned that, here in deepest, darkest Africa, we may not know how to use it.
Directions:
“Add water and massage onto body for a creamy lather. Rinse thoroughly with water”
Thanks Imagination Is Spicy! I love the gifts. I love their fragrance and I always love a good laugh.
PS – If anyone has not yet voted for Pixels, please click on the link below, enter your email address, rate the photograph as 5 stars and Send. 2 seconds of your time and a chance for Pixels to win 1 years worth of kitten food, which she has agreed to donate to the needy Animal Welfare Shelters
I adore getting mail and especially packages. Yours is particularly awesome!!
Was a lovely surprise, to receive anything from the post office and particularly a lovely gift.
Congratulations but, NOT fair on Litchi. She should at least share halfies!
😀 In fairness, she prefers the delightful odors of horse manure, which appears to be utterly irresistible to all the dogs on our walks 😀
Whoooohoooo what a wonderful prize..Big congrats Susan, youz sure gonna smell sweet LOL xx00xx
Mollie and Alfie
We smell quite utterly delicious! 🙂 The men are bound to be chasing me around tables today 😀
Wow. Lucky you! Great prize! Come on Pixel!!!!! 😉
It’s so exciting to receive prizes. Not something I normally get to do. Pixels is still in 2nd place. Each time she reaches 1st, the other kitty drums up another 100 votes. We’re going mad I tell you 😀
What a great surprise that was! We won a Frosty Paws stuffed dog and free coupons for Frosty Paws for the dogs and we were elated that we won too! It is such a grand day when the package arrives! Have a great day! 🙂
That’s an awesome prize. I wish we got Frosty Paws here but, alas, no such luck. Have a wonderful day as well
Congrats! Great prize!
Thanks. Litchi was particularly pleased that it was named after her
Oooh, I love that tin too! LOL @ soap directions. Maybe it smells good enough to eat! hehehehe 🙂
It really does smell good enough to eat! That must be the reason for the directions 🙂
LOL! Must be then! 😀
It looks furry nice. Glad it arrived!
By the way, I am sorry I am terribly terribly late, but I still want to thank you for your birthday wishes =^.^=
Lots of purrs
Furry nice indeed and we’re so lucky it arrived. No worries about being late. I’m currently running late on absolutely everything!
You lucky lucky thing! Thank goodness they didn’t get lost.
Indeed – lucky on two counts. First, winning and second having it actually arriving. I’m sure there’s one other thing sent to me that has gotten lost and I hope the sender doesn’t think I’m terribly rude for not having put out a thank you post.
LOL re the instructions. Nice surprise. Enjoy. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Best wishes Molly
Wishing you a wonderful Wednesday as well. Got to laugh at the fact that manufacturers are required to put instructions on everything these days.
Congratulations!!!! Does a mail strike mean no bills?? What happens, then? Yikes. It would be great not to get them, but then you can’t pay them and you get late fees? Oh my.
No bills and quite a lot of confusion. It’s nice not to see what you owe but, as you say, the providers never take that into account. Wish they did. I could do with a breather for a while 🙂
congrats on your winnings. so glad the postal service didn’t botch up that package as it is very lovely. all i get in the mail is bills so those days they can go on strike.
Usually my thoughts exactly 😀 Strike away as much as you want! Glad they got this one through though. It really does have the most wonderful fragrance. I shall be expecting lots of men chasing me around tables from now on 🙂
What a great thing to get in the mail. Have fun with it all.
Oh I intend to have fun. It smells nice enough to assume I shall have men falling at my feet from now on 🙂
My Wally told me about your mail strike! What a PAIN! Buuuut, what a completely awesome pressie to have waiting for you once it all came back together. Enjoy!
Not sure they are back together yet but really impressed they got this one through. So nice to receive exciting stuff in the mail for a change.
Hooray, it arrived! *happy dance*
No worries, I was going to get in touch this week in case our post service had gone wonky (which they do too). I didn’t know S.A had a postal strike going on! I’m so glad you got everything safely.
Poor Litchi, she must be disappointed. Next time, if you win again, maybe I should pop in some fancy dog shampoo for those post-manure moments? 😀
Indeed – Hooray and Yippee! It was so exciting to receive it and it really is a beautiful gift. I will be having a great time using the soap and cream and the heart is simply gorgeous, especially having been hand made by yourself. Very special.
Hmm, post manure shampoo would please Mom but I’m still not sure Litchi would approve 😀
Congratulations! Now you have the scent of Litchi and a dog named Litchi – how cool! I found a potato chip company named Easy, but I’m not sure if my mom would smell like a potato chip…
How cool. I hope you got some of those chips named after you. I bet they’re delicious.
So glad about the instructions, Susan. I’d probably eat something that smells that delicious! Congratulations!!! xoxoM
You’re right. Of course my fellow bloggers would work out why they needed it. I’m hoping to have the men falling at my feet now that I smell so good 🙂
Thank goodness the soap came with instructions!! What would you have ever done if it hadn’t?? 🙂 Always fun to have an unexpected bit of good luck!!
Congrats on the lovely prize:-)
Mail is over-rated any more except when you get a package! I bet Litchi thinks it’s just for her :).
What a GREAT prize package!!!
Pam
Wow, lucky!!! Awesome!!!
That bootiful. Purrime Ministerettes wanna has too.
I wish I could send my mailman, Leroy, to you. He is the best mailman ever. But it sounds like with your mail situation he may not be delivered to you, so I’ll keep him!
What a lovely prize you have won!!! I can imagine Litchi thinks it is for her, BOL!!!
Canadian Postal service is anything but reliable!!! Sometimes it is great & then all of a sudden letters are torn & parcels go missing….esp @ Xmas time. This past Saturday 2 blokes cam3 & took 1 of our mailboxes away. We had 1 for local mail & 1 box for everywhere else…..they took the local box. I called to enquire what had happened…took 5 hours for a Superviser to return my call & man was he RUDE!!! Turns out ALL our mail whether local or out of town or overseas is going into 1 mailbox & then sent 300 miles south of where I live to be sorted…..so yes the local mail will make a 600 mile round trip before it gets to its destination in town here….sounds pretty dumb to me!!! The bloke told me it would be more efficient; I burst out laughing. The chat ended abrubtly I can tell you… 😉
I can empathize with you from afar.
Sherri-Ellen
Wowsa!! That’s a great surprise! I love it when surprises make it through the mail! Very cool….don’t forgets to rinse!
Kisses,
Ruby
Sweet prizes. Congratulations! Steer clear, Litchi! They smack of a B-A-T-H.
Love and licks,
Cupcake
How gorgeous..! To win ‘anything’ is wonderful. However, to have it ‘delivered’ under the circumstances is miracle indeed…
Enjoy… 😉
Congratulations! What a nice gift! Question, How do you get bills and stuff like that if you don’t get your mail.
Congrats, Susan and congratulations to the post man for delivering your gifts! 🙂
Congratulations – pamper time 🙂
Congratulations, lovely gift!
We love to get packages in the mail! What fun! Congratulations!
I haven`t had a package in the mail for years, I only get bills. As emails seem to be the preferred way of communicating it doesn`t matter whether the postal service ceases to exist. As for them being on strike, i would never have known had I not read your blog. Its just another government department that doesn`t work. It`s a pity they don`t make crime a government department.
Congratulations on getting you mail and receiving such a terrific prize. I know it will be much enjoyed.
I guess you never know what someone will do with soap ?! 🙂
Nice beauty purrresents 🙂
Congrats on your prize! I hope it smells as good as it looks 🙂 I also voted! Good luck!
Thanks for the votes and yes, that soap and cream smell absolutely delicious. I’m expecting to have the men chasing me round tables with this stuff on 🙂
I remember now, Pixel’s is so adorable. I had one or two strays like her and they went to good homes after I treated them for some simple things. I voted for her with a five star vote. Will she get a crown to wear if she wins? I know she will donate monies to the shelter. She is a positive example and so is her mom.
I resubscribed. I honestly don’t know what happened.
Adorable post
Yisraela
Thank you so very, very much. No crown, I’m afraid, although, as I figure out photo editing stuff, I’m sure I could come up with a fake one for her 🙂 So glad to hear the cats you fostered got good homes and well done to you for having organised that!
Mail like that would be make me happy too! That looks fun!
Definitely the best type of mail to get. It was such a lovely surprise. I really didn’t expect it to make it’s way through to me with all the issues the post office have been having.
